Visiting the School
A visit to Hollycombe usually consists of an informal chat with the head teacher followed by a tour of the school and grounds. Any questions will be answered during the visit or you can contact us if you have any queries after your tour.

Visiting the School
A visit to Hollycombe usually consists of an informal chat with the head teacher followed by a tour of the school and grounds. Any questions will be answered during the visit or you can contact us if you have any queries after your tour.
Familiarisation Visits
Children coming to Hollycombe are invited to spend several sessions in their class so that they are familiar with the surroundings before they start school. There are 4 sessions available (please contact the school for further information) and are an excellent way to make your child's transition to school a happy one.
Home Visits
Each child will receive a home visit from Mrs Edmonds and a Learning Support Assistant from the class. These visits last for half an hour and are an excellent way for the teacher to find out about your child so as to be able to meet their individual needs when they begin school.
Meetings for New Parents
The school holds 2 evening meetings for parents. The first takes place in the Summer term and is aimed to give an overview of life at Hollycombe and what you can expect a day in the life of your child to be when they begin school. It is also an opportunity to order uniform and raise any queries you may have.
The second meeting is held in the Autumn term after your child begins school and is designed to give an overview of the foundation stage and the curriculum your child will be covering. Both meetings are intended to be informal gatherings and are always accompanied by wine and nibbles!
School Uniform
The school has a uniform which it is hoped all pupils will wear.
Girls (Summer): Green Hollycombe sweatshirt, green and white checked or striped summer dress, white socks.
Girls (Winter): Green Hollycombe sweatshirt, black or grey trousers (not leggings or fashion trousers), grey skirt or pinafore, white polo shirt or blouse, dark tights.
Boys (Summer and Winter): Green Hollycombe sweatshirt, grey trousers or shorts, white polo shirt or shirt. School shoes should be sensible, low heeled and dark in colour (not trainers).
PE: For PE the children will need white shorts, red T-shirt and dark tracksuit trousers. Trainers or plimsolls will be needed for outside PE. Indoor PE will normally be in bare feet. Trainers are not suitable for work on apparatus.
